Description
6 months voluntarism opportunity starting as soon as possible, aiming to support unaccompanied asylum seeker minors' well-being and education, and to raise awareness about asylum seeker theme among the local citizens. Main activities of a volunteer are going to be planning, preparation and implementation of informal and non-formal educational activities for male asylum seeker teenagers in ages 14-17, as well as work on online content creation (articles, photography, video, podcasts, research, etc) on themes related to asylum seekers in general. Each volunteer will implement non-formal education activities with teenagers up to times a week, attend weekly preparation and reflection meetings 2 times a week, and work on online content creation project (on themes connecting with asylum seeker integration) few hours every day.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation will be in apartment in the city center (shared bedroom with 1 other volunteer), 2 minutes walking distance from the office. The apartment includes several bedrooms, shared kitchen and living room, bathroom and a big balcony. It also includes wifi, basic appliances and items. The volunteer will monthly receive 7 Euros a day for food expenses, as well as pocket money 7 Euros a day, prepaid in the beginning of each month. Transportation will be provided (car with a driver/sometimes bus tickets) for activities that will take place in the asylum seeker accommodation facility.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will be trained to follow the organisation's Code of Conduct and specific rules of their work field. During the integration days, volunteers will receive training and/or information about safety, protection and security, specifically child protection, hygiene and health, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, and non-formal education in the context of unaccompanied asylum seeker integration. Additionally, support for working with digital tools will be provided when needed. Volunteers will also receive weekly and monthly monitoring and support during meetings.
Participant profile
We are looking for applicants aged 22 - 30, fluent in English, independent, eager to research and regularly propose / initiate activities, work in an international team, be responsible and comply with our rules and regulations with a very high sense of responsibility, creative and flexible. EXPERIENCE IS REQUESTED in: studies in any of social sciences + work or volunteering with young people in the area of non-formal education OR work or volunteering with young asylum seekers/refugees. Any type of digital content creation experience will be considered as a strong asset for the applicants.
