The United Nations is offering an internship with the Peacebuilding Support Office, which is looking to recruit an intern to support the work of the Peacebuilding Impact Hub. This is a chance to work at the centre of the UN's peacebuilding architecture, supporting coordination, research and analysis that inform planning, decision-making and reporting on peacebuilding efforts worldwide.
What You Will Do
The tasks will include:
๐ค Support stakeholder coordination, including liaison with national and international counterparts
๐ Assist project leads and relevant colleagues in preparing meeting briefs and related materials, and support correspondence with relevant counterparts
๐ Monitor actions taken by intergovernmental groups, UN entities, and government and non-governmental organizations related to peacebuilding efforts
๐ Support policy development, the assessment of issues and trends, and the preparation of evaluations or research activities and studies
๐ Support the preparation of written outputs and data-driven analysis, including background papers, reports, and contributions to key policy documents and other knowledge products, to inform planning, decision-making and reporting
๐ค Support outreach activities, design and conduct training workshops and seminars, and make presentations on assigned topics and activities

Who Can Apply
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following conditions: be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation. Applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications, including Excel (advanced knowledge desirable), have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter, and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience; however, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship is required. You will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, and knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Funding and Visa
The United Nations does not provide financial remuneration to interns. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. For internships in the United States of America, interns who are not United States citizens, permanent residents, or currently in the United States on a nonimmigrant visa status will be required to obtain a G-4 visa. If already in the United States on another non-immigrant visa status other than G-4, interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa and, if required, employment authorization allowing them to undertake the internship. Before resuming an internship, the applicant must submit proof of visa and/or work authorization. Applicants who have previously served six months in total as an intern in one or more UN Common Systems cannot be engaged as an intern, and applicants who are children, siblings, or sons or daughters-in-law (including stepchildren, half-siblings, or stepsiblings) of an active staff member in the UN Secretariat cannot be engaged as an intern.
