If you love event organisation and European politics, this paid traineeship at the European Democratic Party (EDP) in Brussels is a great opportunity. You will help organise conferences, seminars, and party events while conducting policy research on EU priorities, gaining hands-on experience at the heart of a transnational political movement.

About the Organisation

The European Democratic Party (EDP/PDE) is a transnational, centrist, and federalist political movement that gathers parties and representatives committed to a more democratic, integrated European Union that is close to its citizens. It sits within the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament, and its Brussels-based Secretariat organises the party's activities and manages its external communication. The EDP is looking for an Events & Policy Trainee to support the organisation of its events and political activities.

Main Tasks

๐ŸŽช Support the organisation of conferences, seminars, public debates, congresses, and party events: logistics, coordination with suppliers and venues, participant registration, travel and accommodation arrangements, and on-site support

๐Ÿ“‹ Assist in preparing and following up EDP political activities, working groups, Presidency, Bureau, and other internal meetings, including notes and minutes

๐Ÿ“ฃ Contribute to event-related communication, such as event descriptions, programmes, invitations, and on-site coverage, in coordination with the Communications team

๐Ÿค Liaise with member parties, partners, speakers, and suppliers before and during events

๐Ÿ” Conduct policy and political research on EU topics relevant to EDP priorities (democracy, rule of law, economic and social policies, green and digital transitions), to support event programming and briefings

๐Ÿ“ Draft briefing notes, summaries, minutes, and background documents in English and/or French

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Contribute to monitoring the work of the EU institutions, including the European Parliament, and provide general support to the Secretariat

Required Profile

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is essential; Spanish is a strong asset, and other EU languages are an advantage

๐ŸŽ“ A university degree (completed or ongoing) in political science, EU studies, international relations, communication, event management, or a related field

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several tasks and deadlines in parallel, including under the pressure of live events

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Good knowledge of EU institutions and decision-making, and an interest in European politics

๐Ÿค Comfortable working in a small, multicultural team in a political environment; experience with political parties, youth movements, NGOs, or EU-related organisations is highly appreciated, and previous involvement in an EDP member party, a parliamentary team, or the EDP Youth movement is a plus

Practical Information

๐Ÿ“„ A full-time traineeship for 6 months, with occasional travel in Europe

๐Ÿ’ถ Remuneration: โ‚ฌ1,200 per month
