Description

- Welcoming and supporting pupils in the pupils’ lounge (a room that can accommodate six pupils at a time). Pupils come here during break times, when a teacher is absent, or during the lunch break.

- Support, assist and collaborate with the student representatives and eco-representatives to develop their projects on sustainable development, gender equality, civic values, etc. (Sports workshops to promote the inclusion of girls, organising a litter-picking walk, etc.)

- Accompany teachers on school trips with a civic or environmental focus.

- Help organise school events (talent show, Year 9 prom, etc.)

- Get involved in school life and help foster cultural and personal exchange between pupils and the volunteer.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers are accommodated in student halls of residence. The 9m² rooms are equipped with a bed, a desk, a private shower room and a fridge. Meals can be prepared in the communal kitchen. A communal laundry room is also available. A welcome pack includes cooking essentials, a duvet and pillow, sheets and towels. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at lunchtime, the volunteer eats lunch in the school canteen. Travel around town is by bus. A monthly bus pass allows for unlimited travel

Training during the activity

Volunteers attend a number of training sessions to learn about the various aspects of the European Voluntary Service. On arrival, volunteers are given time to familiarise themselves with the school and the workings of the French education system, as well as the software used at the school. During the school holidays, volunteers will be placed in a youth club to learn how to lead activities for teenagers.

- Proficiency in digital tools (website management, social media, online crea6on tools).

- Initiative and ability to work collaborately with various local and European stakeholders.

- French language skills at A2 level would be an asset.
