Description
The āBaumhausā kindergarten was founded on the initiative of parents by the non-profit association āVerein fĆ¼r ƶkologisches Lernen e.V.ā (Association for Ecological Learning). This association aims to enable children and young people to learn in and through nature. The associationās purpose is to promote education and upbringing. This is achieved through the running of a kindergarten for children aged 1 to 6. A distinctive feature of the facility is that it places great emphasis on experiencing nature from an early age and builds on this later through a forest kindergarten. In the kindergarten, children aged 1 to 3 spend most of their time in the building in WĆ¼rzburg-GrombĆ¼hl, which has a huge garden/outdoor area, whilst the older children, aged 3 to 6, spend their time outdoors in a woodland/forest area in WĆ¼rzburg-OberrdĆ¼rbach. The kindergartenās concept is based on the āforest kindergartenā approach, which means that the children are outside every day, whatever the weather.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will receive: room in a flat in WĆ¼rzburg, pocket money, food money, German language course, monthly ticket for the local transport, insurance, reimbursement of the international travel costs (two ways), pedagogical, organizational and personal support
Training during the activity
During the ESC year the volunteer will take part in two obligatory seminars organized by the National Agency, which will take place in another German city. In addition he/she will participate every month in a meeting involving other volunteers in the region and the project coordinators. The volunteer will attend a German language course.
Participant profile
We are looking for someone who is keen to work with children aged 1ā6, who enjoys spending time with them, organising games and exploring nature with them, and who isnāt put off by the weather ā after all, thereās no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes :)) Knowledge of German would be an advantage, but is not essential.
