🔷 Activity Details

Description

If you too believe that a better world is possible, join us! WeWorld Onlus works especially for girls, boys, women and young people, actors of change in every community for a fairer and more inclusive world. It helps people to overcome emergencies and guarantee a life worth living, by offering opportunities and a better future through programmes of human and economic development. We are looking for a group of 5 volunteers for a short-term volunteering period in WeWorld Kenya! You will learn how to support awareness raising activities in schools on reducing and recycling waste through customized games. You will participate in the provision of allocated bins in the girls toilets for proper disposal of sanitary pads to promote waste segregation and the distribution of seedlings.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The activities will be implemented in Nairobi and Narok. The project will cover accommodation, travel, food and a pocket money for your personal expenses. Travel costs from your home country to the country of deployment will be covered by WeWorld. Insurance (Henner) will be activated for the whole duration of your deployment.

Training during the activity

You will attend an online pre-departure induction on WeWorld’s work and policies, safety and security, communication of activities, mentoring and support, practical arrangements (visa, insurance, etc), among others. Once in the country, you will participate in an on-arrival induction training that will introduce you the Host organization and country, including your specific role within the team during the volunteering activities.

Participant profile

We look for motivated people, ready to socialize and experience a different culture, able to adapt and contribute to a team for a period of one month. Are you interested in education, communication, child protection, environmental protection and international cooperation? You will be supported by a Team Coordinator, a Peer Buddy and a Mentor in the Support Organization, who follow up on your teams volunteering experience. Please note that the total amount of time spent by a young person in European Solidarity Corps volunteering activities must not exceed 12 months and the activities carried out must not overlap. Activities carried out under Erasmus+ volunteering/European Voluntary Service will count towards the total of 12 months allowed. Equality and inclusiveness are part of the core values of EU and WeWorld. The European Solidarity Corps initiative provides opportunities that are accessible for all. However, some people cannot benefit equally from these opportunities because they face various barriers. Inclusion of people facing access barriers or having fewer opportunities is a key objective of European Solidarity Corps Program, aiming at establishing a dedicated framework for inclusion measures. In the process of collecting and selecting your application for ESC Program, WeWorld includes Inclusion and Diversity criteria in its selection process.
