What Is This Training About?
Common Ground aims to strengthen the quality, inclusiveness, and intercultural awareness of youth work across Europe. The main objective is to enhance the competences of youth workers so they can promote a culture of dialogue, respect, and social cohesion in their educational contexts โ and be better equipped to actively address nationalism, xenophobia, and discrimination.
Objectives
๐ ๏ธ Provide practical tools and inclusive methodologies based on non-formal education, applicable in everyday work with multicultural groups
๐ฃ๏ธ Develop competences in intercultural facilitation, empathetic communication, and conflict management โ essential for safe and participatory learning environments
๐ช Promote reflective learning and professional self-awareness โ supporting participants in identifying and deconstructing personal stereotypes and biases
๐ Strengthen participants' ability to transfer acquired competences into new programmes, workshops, and local activities โ increasing educational impact in their communities
Who Should Apply?
๐น Age: 26 to 34 years old
๐น 2 to 8 years of experience in Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, or local youth work
๐น Works regularly with diverse groups of young people, including those with fewer opportunities โ migrants, rural or disadvantaged youth
๐น Has experience or interest in non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, and inclusion
๐น Genuinely motivated to address discrimination, xenophobia, identity, and social cohesion
๐น Willing to develop competences in intercultural facilitation, communication, and conflict management
๐น Committed to attending all sessions and actively participating in training and follow-up activities
๐น Motivated to transfer the acquired knowledge into their local work
๐น Able to communicate in English at a basic working level
๐น Each national group should aim for gender balance where possible
The Venue โ Siena, Italy
๐จ Accommodation: Cannon d'Oro โ located in the centre of Siena, within walking distance of the main historical sites. Shared rooms of 3 people, each with a private bathroom. Breakfast provided at the hostel.
๐๏ธ Training venue: La Corte dei Miracoli โ a cultural and social space in Siena promoting community, inclusion, and creativity. Approximately 20 minutes on foot from the accommodation. Participants will walk together between both locations each day.
๐ก๏ธ August in Siena is hot and mostly sunny โ daytime temperatures around 28โ33ยฐC, peaks up to 35โ38ยฐC. Nights are warm at around 18โ22ยฐC. Bring comfortable, light clothes that allow free movement for both indoor and outdoor activities.
๐ Intercultural Nights will take place during the evenings โ bring traditional food and drinks from your country
