GLOBALA KRONOBERG

Mullsjö folkhögskola

Mullsjö, Sweden

DESCRIPTION

The Mullsjö project takes place at Mullsjö folkhögskola, a Swedish folk high school focused on community, creativity, and inclusion. Volunteers support the school’s social and communal life by helping create a welcoming and engaging environment for students. A key part of the role is building positive relationships, encouraging participation, and supporting inclusion within the school community. Main tasks include organizing and leading the weekly “Wednesday Hangout” social activities, assisting in Café Bernhard, supporting informal English-Swedish language exchange, participating in student council activities, and helping staff with various school-related tasks. Volunteers are also encouraged to lead one lesson per week based on their own interests, skills, or cultural background. The project combines social engagement, creativity, teamwork, and cultural exchange while giving volunteers insight into Swedish folk high school education and community life.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Volunteers are accommodated on the campus of Mullsjö folkhögskola together with other students. Meals can be bought in the school dining hall during weekdays, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Monday to Thursday, and breakfast and lunch on Fridays. Shared facilities such as common rooms, a gym, and a sports hall are available for volunteers’ free-time activities. As the volunteer will live at the school, no extra transport arrangement will be provided for them within the project.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

Volunteers will participate in two training with the Swedish national agency, on-arrival training and mid-term training located in Stockholm. They are also invited to participate in selected classes and school activities to better understand Swedish folk high school education.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

Mullsjö folkhögskola welcomes volunteers who are interested in community life, cultural exchange, and meeting new people. The project is suitable for open-minded and curious young people who would like to take part in the daily life of a Swedish folk high school. Volunteers should be willing to participate in social activities, cooperate with students and staff, and contribute with their own ideas and interests. An interest in communication, creativity, and informal learning is appreciated, as well as a willingness to use English in everyday situations and learn some Swedish during the project. The most important qualities are motivation, a positive attitude, and an interest in being part of an inclusive and supportive community.
