DESCRIPTION

Face Club is a youth centre in Spišská Belá, an open space where local kids and young people come to spend time, move and learn new things. We are looking for volunteers who are into sports and enjoy being active. Whether that's basketball, football, ping pong, hiking, cycling, running, fitness or anything else you can do together with kids and teenagers. You'll help organise sport days and festival of unusual sports, come up with new games and activities and get everybody moving. At the same time, there's always the everyday side of things - preparing the space, getting materials ready, cleaning, helping plan activities for children and teenagers. English days, film evenings, camps for kids and more. We occasionally work with partner organisations and take part in local cultural events as well. Volunteers are welcomed from six months to a whole year. We are very excited to hear from you!

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

You'll have your own room in a shared flat with fully equipped kitchen, wifi, and a bike available for getting around. Face Club is just five minutes by foot and Tesco opposite from your accommodation. Every month you receive pocket money plus a food allowance. We'll help you sort out transport to Slovakia before you arrive. Spišská Belá sits at the foot of the High Tatras, one of the most iconic regions in Slovakia. From here you can easily travel around, go for a weekend trip to Poland, visit Prague, Budapest, Vienna and much more or discover our beautiful mountains.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

You'll attend on-arrival and mid-term trainings organised by the Slovak National Agency and receive a Youthpass certificate, an officially recognised record of your learning and competences. Slovak lessons will help you settle in. You'll gain real, hands-on experience working with children and young people. And regular meetings with a coach and mentor will support you in developing a personal project of your own choosing.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with kids and young people. You're open-minded, enthusiastic and interested in growing personally and professionally. You're responsible and comfortable both on your own and as part of a team. Experience with youth work is a plus, but not a must. More important is that you're flexible, empathetic and curious. Interest in sports, games and being active. Good English is needed for everyday communication.
