Brepols Publishers is a medium-sized international academic publisher specialising in research for the humanities โ€” covering history, patristics, philology, archaeology, and art history across books, journals, reference works, and online databases. Their headquarters are located in the historic Begijnhof of Turnhout, Belgium, with additional offices in Thessaloniki, France, the UK, and the USA.

โš ๏ธ This internship offers no financial compensation. The student must either be awarded an Erasmus+ scholarship or have the intention to apply for one. Free accommodation is provided by Brepols.

What Is This Role About?

Interns work closely with Brepols' team of bibliographic editors โ€” checking metadata and assessing the quality of data extraction software used in the development of the publisher's renowned digital applications. This is a hands-on role that combines humanities expertise with digital methods in a real academic publishing environment.


Responsibilities

๐Ÿ” Assessing the quality of data extraction software outputs

๐Ÿค Working closely with the bibliographic editors team

๐Ÿ“– Contributing to the development of Brepols' digital applications in the humanities


Who Should Apply?

๐Ÿ”น Currently enrolled or recently graduated with a background in Philology, History, Philosophy, Languages and Literature, or other relevant humanities fields

๐Ÿ”น Very good command of English โ€” written and spoken

๐Ÿ”น Knowledge of other European languages is advantageous

๐Ÿ”น Familiarity with academic citation styles

๐Ÿ”น Ability to work accurately and methodically

๐Ÿ”น Effective teamwork skills

๐Ÿ”น Editorial experience or proofreading skills are considered advantageous
