🌍 Overview of the Experience
This project takes you straight into history you can actually touch 🏰
In southern France 🇫🇷, you’ll work on restoring parts of a medieval castle site that dates back over 1,500 years. Not theory, not museum visits — real stones, real structures, real restoration.
🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
🧱 Restore and reinforce stone walls of the castle site
🏰 Work on an area including Carolingian tower remains and medieval structures
🌧️ Repair damage caused by weather and erosion
🌍 Help prepare the site to become accessible for visitors
🤝 Collaborate in an international team on heritage preservation
Southern France 🇫🇷 is home to some of Europe’s richest medieval heritage, where restoration projects play a key role in preserving historical sites for future generations.
Here, you’re not just learning about history — you’re physically contributing to keeping it alive. If you're exploring how to join ESC heritage restoration projects or where to volunteer in archaeology and medieval sites in Europe, this type of experience connects manual work with cultural preservation in a direct way.
