The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Turkish-speaking Research Intern for its SDG Finance Portfolio at the Istanbul Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) — one of UNDP's five Global Thematic Policy Centers. What Will You Do?
🔍 Research & Analysis: Provide research, writing, and editing support on topics related to impact investing, SDG financing, and sustainable development — contributing directly to UNDP's knowledge base and policy work.
📖 Knowledge Publishing: Support the production and publishing of knowledge stories and best practices on impact investing and SDG financing for internal and external audiences.
🛠️ Project Design & Implementation: Contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives, projects, and programmes run by the Sustainable Finance Hub and ICPSD.
📣 Communications Materials: Prepare a wide range of communications materials including speeches, brochures, success stories, and social media content.
📱 Digital Content & Social Media: Collaborate on the development and execution of online content — images, infographics, videos, blogs — and campaigns across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other platforms.
🗂️ Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance on an as-needed basis to support the team's day-to-day operations.
🌍 Did You Know? The UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — 17 global targets agreed by all 193 UN member states in 2015 — require an estimated $4–6 trillion per year in investment by 2030 to achieve. Closing this enormous financing gap is one of the defining challenges of the decade, and UNDP's Sustainable Finance Hub exists specifically to mobilise private sector capital, impact investment, and innovative financial instruments toward these goals — making this internship a front-row seat to some of the most consequential development finance work happening anywhere in the world.
Eligibility & Requirements
🎓 Education: Must be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's degree, enrolled in a Master's degree, or have graduated from a university degree in economics, finance, business, development, international relations, law, public administration, or a related field within the last year.
🗣️ Language (Mandatory): Fluency in both Turkish and English — written and spoken — is required for this position. Knowledge of French or Arabic is an additional asset.
✍️ Research & Writing: Solid experience in academic writing, research, and analysis is required.
🌱 Subject Knowledge: Experience or demonstrated interest in sustainable development, SDG financing, and/or impact investing is a strong advantage.
💻 Digital Skills: Proficiency in standard computer software applications (Microsoft Suite); social media content management skills are desirable.
🌍 UN Values: Demonstrated commitment to UNDP's mission and the ideals of the UN Charter, and the ability to work effectively across different cultural backgrounds.
