๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ESC Volunteering in France ๐Ÿ’ป Digital Inclusion & Intercultural Youth Volunteer ๐Ÿค Seniors, Education & Community, Arques ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

In the charming town of Arques in northern France, this European Solidarity Corps opportunity invites a patient, sociable, and digitally confident volunteer to support senior citizens in gaining digital independence โ€” while also organising intercultural and creative activities for children and teenagers. With weekly French classes, a supportive team, and a lovely shared volunteer house, this project is a warm and meaningful way to spend time in France while making a genuine difference across generations.

๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Arques is a small town in the Pas-de-Calais department of northern France, situated just a few kilometres from Saint-Omer โ€” a historic city known for its beautiful gardens, Gothic cathedral, and the nearby Marais Audomarois, one of the largest active marshland areas in Europe and a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

What Will You Do?

๐Ÿ’ป Facilitate digital skills workshops for senior citizens at three levels: digital autonomy, beginner, and advanced
๐Ÿ“ฑ Help seniors use smartphones, computers, email, video calls, online services, and administrative platforms with confidence
๐Ÿ™‹ Provide individual digital support to seniors who need one-on-one guidance
๐ŸŽจ Help organise intercultural and creative activities for children and teenagers to discover different cultures
๐ŸŒ Bring your own cultural background and experience to enrich the intercultural programme for young people
๐Ÿค Strengthen social connections across generations through educational, cultural, and inclusive activities
๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Digital exclusion among older adults is one of Europe’s most pressing social challenges โ€” an estimated 40% of people aged 65 and over in the EU have never used the internet. As public services increasingly move online, digital literacy workshops like those run by this project are a crucial lifeline, helping seniors access healthcare, benefits, and social connections they would otherwise be cut off from.
