๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ESC Volunteering in France ๐ŸŒป Youth & Intercultural Exchange Volunteer ๐ŸŒ Culture, Language & Rural Community, Ribรฉrac ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

Nestled in the rolling countryside of the Pรฉrigord Ribรฉracois in southwest France, this European Solidarity Corps opportunity welcomes four volunteers to bring Europe to life for children and teenagers in a rural community far from the usual ESC destinations. From intercultural meals and language cafรฉs to working with young people at schools and youth centres โ€” and even supervising seaside camps โ€” this is a richly varied, deeply human volunteering experience. A driving licence is required.

๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Ribรฉrac is a small market town in the Dordogne department of southwestern France โ€” a region famous for its prehistoric cave paintings, medieval chรขteaux, and rich gastronomy including truffles, foie gras, and Pรฉrigord walnuts. The Pรฉrigord Ribรฉracois area is sometimes called "Little England" due to its long history of British residents, making it a genuinely multicultural corner of rural France.

What Will You Do?

๐Ÿง’ Work with teenagers aged 10 to 18 through activities and interventions at a college, high school, family centre, and rural youth home
๐Ÿ•๏ธ Supervise and support camping trips at the seaside as part of youth activities
๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Organise intercultural meals to present your own culture, cuisine, and traditions to the local community
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Facilitate a monthly linguistic cafรฉ โ€” a relaxed space for local people to practice and speak foreign languages
๐ŸŒ Participate in organising events focused on mobility and European awareness for young people
๐Ÿš— Travel across the rural area using the two shared cars available to volunteers โ€” a driving licence is essential for this role
๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Rural areas across Europe are often underserved when it comes to intercultural experiences and European awareness programmes. ESC volunteers placed in rural communities play a uniquely powerful role โ€” they become living ambassadors of European diversity, often being the first direct contact local young people have with someone from another country.
