Are you a practising artist, writer, composer, filmmaker, choreographer, architect, or humanities scholar — and ready to dedicate a month of focused, uninterrupted creative or scholarly work in one of the most beautiful settings in the world? The Bogliasco Foundation awards approximately 50 fellowships each year to gifted individuals working across all disciplines of the Arts and Humanities, inviting them to a fully funded residency at the Bogliasco Study Center on the Italian Riviera near Genoa. Fellows receive full room and board and a private studio — with nothing asked of them except the freedom to create, think, and produce. Open to all nationalities, all ages, no degree programme required. The deadline for Spring 2027 residencies is 13 March 2026.
🌊 Did You Know? Bogliasco is a tiny fishing village perched on the Ligurian coast just east of Genoa — surrounded by terraced hillsides, Mediterranean gardens, and the deep blue of the Italian Riviera. The Study Center occupies a historic villa directly on the seafront, making it one of the most scenically extraordinary artist residency locations in the world.
Eligible Disciplines
🎭Performing arts: dance, theatre, music — including both creative practice and scholarly work such as musicology, choreography research, and theatre criticism
🎬Film and video — both filmmaking practice and film criticism or theory
🖼️Visual arts — fine art practice as well as art history and visual culture scholarship
✍️Literature — fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and literary scholarship
🏛️Architecture and landscape architecture — both practice-based and theoretical or historical work
📜Archaeology, classics, history, and philosophy — advanced scholarly and research projects in the humanities

The Bogliasco Fellowship programme places no restrictions on nationality, age, gender, race, or religion — the sole criterion is demonstrated significant achievement in your discipline. It is one of the genuinely most open and inclusive international artist residency programmes in the world.
What Does the Fellowship Include?
🏡Full room and board for the entire residency period — accommodation and all meals provided for the fellow and their accompanying spouse or companion
🎨Use of a private studio dedicated exclusively to your creative or scholarly work throughout your stay
💃Access to a state-of-the-art 365 sq ft dance studio with a sprung floor, mirrors, portable barres, and audio-video projection and recording capabilities — available since 2013
✈️Note: transportation costs to and from the Bogliasco Study Center are the responsibility of the fellow — only room, board, and studio are provided

How to Apply
📋Completed application form — available on the Bogliasco Foundation website
📬Two letters of reference — must be uploaded directly by the referees and received by the application deadline
📄A short-form CV of no more than 3 pages in length
🖊️A one-page project description in English outlining the work you intend to develop during your residency at the Study Center
🗂️Three samples of your work that have been published, performed, exhibited, or otherwise publicly presented within the last five years
💳A two-tiered application fee of $30 or $45 — applications may be submitted in English, Italian, French, or Spanish
🚫Students currently enrolled in a degree-granting programme at the time of application are not eligible
